Virtual Collaborators Digital Festival
Virtual Collaborators was founded in 2020, supported by the Arts Council funding and partnering with a number to creative groups – the organisation bought together over 50 actors, writers and directors during the UK lockdown period. Creating online, the group formed teams of 1 actor, 1 director and 1 writer to create new theatre. The project resulted in a series of rapid-response short films, audio plays and games about how lives have been changed by the Covid-19 lockdown. A digital festival ran between the 17th and 31st of August to showcase work and 33 films were launched (hosted on YouTube, IGTV via its website) The group also produced work and created an in-person outdoor festival to complement the digital output. The in-person event was held over a weekend in grounds of St John’s Church in Leytonstone, London.
